Crafty Kids

It all started one rainy afternoon in late July when my nephew and I attended our very first scrapbooking event at a mall.  My sister was there with us to observe, but eventually had to jump in and help.  But what was born that day was the idea that we can do this sort of thing at home.  And the best thing was that we could get the kids (I have a total of 3 nephews and 5 nieces) engaged in doing something creative.  This felt like something we just had to do as most of the time when the kids get together, they would just naturally gravitate towards their computer games/iphones/ipads ... they would be together physically and yet not together in the real sense (so sad!).

We initially planned on making this a regular monthly activity, since it also takes time and effort to prepare samples, materials, and instructions.  So far, we have been able to keep up.  There were even months when there's more than one project to do.  So for now, we just try to squeeze in as much as we can (I have a full-time job after all and it's the kind of job that you take home, too).  It's fun and there's always something new to learn both for us and the kids.

Here's what we've done since we've started our Crafty Kids (CK) weekends.
